is our wii wiitarded? CosMind // 17:34 // 4 replies
we got a wii for the studio last weekend, but i'm wondering if it is working correctly.
when we play games, the response doesn't seem to sync up perfectly.  it's wierd, because at the wii channel interface, everything is spot on control wise.  but, the games just seem a bit laggy and as if they miss positional input or something.

i recieved a wii as a gift myself, too.  but, i haven't even opened it because i don't have any games for it.  so, i can't make any comparisons to the one here at the studio.

for anyone else who got a wii up in here - are you having a similar experience with games?
maybe we have sensor bar problems or something (which seems odd since the wii channels work perfectly fine)?
or, maybe i just expected it to work differently or something, and it is in fact doing what it's supposed to do?

Haven't noticed tat problem with mine.

Try making sure the sensor bar is visible from anywhere the remote might be while playing (it comes with sticky things so you can stick it to vertical plane if there's nowhere to place it).

When I first started mine up my sensor bar was crooked on top of my TV, so at certain positions it couldn't connect the dots, but that doesn't sound like your problem so I'm not sure.

Oh!  I think I heard something about sunlight screwing it up or something?  Try making sure the sun doesn't fall directly on the bar.

oof...

zero sunlight in the game room.

not a chance of anything blocking the sensor bar.

only about 5 feet away.

hmmm, we'll keep fiddling with it.  perhaps there really isn't a problem at all, and we're just expecting a different kind of response.  but if it is a problem with the hardware, then we'll see if we can swap the sucker out for a new one.

thanks for the pointers.

EDIT

ooh, question for you yomama.
on golf, when you move the wiimote, does the characters arms move exactly like your own?

Just to let you know, the sensor bar isn't a senor at all, infact its the remote that does all the work. the senor bar just transmits some signal which the remote reacts to.

If that never made sense, then check this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JTGSkYRDpWY

Sunlight has IR frequencies in it, and the sensor bear has IR leds in it. So, direct sunlight can mess up the controller's position, because it sees the sunlight's IR and not the bar's IR.

How do you not have any games? Doesn't every system comes with Wii Sports?
