The Key Factor
When it comes to factors that make a game great, one thinks of fun factor, quality graphics, fitting music, and replay value. But there is one thing I notice that goes heavily underrated with many Game Maker developers, and it's this little thing called polish. Polish is what brings all those lovely qualities together, all those lovely qualities that just happen to all be found in this wonderful game I stumbled upon the other day called Linx.

Beauty in Simplicity
Linx is a master puzzle game, and I say so because it has achieved the same thing that other great puzzlers also did: it has taken a very simple concept and control, and built it into a world of wonder and complexity. Tetris, Sudoku, Bejeweled... and Linx. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but Linx is so simple, so simple that it could draw in the youngest of gamers, and yet the oldest as well.

The Goal of Linx
To the point, the goal of Linx is to link bases of the same colors together by building walls connecting them. Red bases must be connected by red walls, and so on. The thing is, there are several colored bases presented in each level, and you must find innovative ways to weave the walls around so that they do not interfere with each other, and all the bases are connected together. To add a dab of difficulty, the amount of link walls you can build is limited in each level (unfortunately, in many of the levels, the solution is reachable way past par).

Linx's Strong Points
Polish. The creators of this game obviously stepped back, observed every aspect of this game, and polished it to the best of their ability, and the result is obscenely impressive. The graphics are very clean, pretty, and suitable. The music is wonderful, upbeat, and composed rather joyfully; on top of that, the game features a 4-5 song soundtrack, which is nice to see in a puzzle game. To boot, it comes with a myriad of levels, a level editor to create and share even more, and the darned thing is only a 2.2MB download!

In summary...
Excellent job, fun for puzzlers and all softcore gamers alike. It's sad to see that games of this genre do not get as much attention, because this one deserves more than its fair share.
SCREENSHOTS SCREENSHOTS
Some levels are overwhelming at a first glance, but with a little playing around, the trick to each level can be uncovered. Hey, now that's what I like to see in a title screen. All the options to please, and even a level editor. Gosh.
