I think I've got the object model I've been looking for.  It's a bit more complex than the original EForms model, but it should be much more flexible...in particular, windows within windows are now not only possible but very simple to create.  Most of the added complexity should be completely hidden from the casual user, but advanced users will find that the structure is clean and easily extended.
