I've listened to some King Krimson though, man that is hard work.  Apart from Hall of the Krimson King of course, which is a nice song.

It shouldn't be anything in a negative sense really, but it's just that choice of word/prefix - "loli-" does make it appear so.



Gentle, young, innocent and pretty. Pastel colours and soft, fluid lines. Works well together, honestly.

And some side notes - Maybe it's just me, but I didn't like the art style in the Touhou games, and I found the music to be rather... forgettable. And as for the bands everyone seems content to discuss, I've never heard music by any of them - and I've got no knowledge of musical... ANYTHING,  either. Ah well.

Well, they were until Neal Morse went God-crazy and left to make songs for Jesus or some such garbage.  Such a waste of talent.

Probably not, I must admit. However, to clear things up, this isn't a "talk behind the back". Most of what's said here are already told to him. Directly.

I'm also planning to show this to him very soon.

It's been a month since "the incident". This is really a summary. The sad part is that he himself admits to having a problem, so this is far from being one-sided.

The problem is that he doesn't realize the magnitude of the issue.

Again, this isn't talking behind his back, and it will certainly not be hidden from him. Though I am extremely rude and insulting, I am prepared to be labeled as "the immature guy" in Eo if that's what it takes to make him realize that here's someone who's prepared to make a complete fool of himself - and others by embarrassing the whole community. This is no sacrifice to gain any merit. Hell no. I'm intentionally casting aside my reputation (heh, if there is one to begin with) to let him know that what he decides to do within the next few months may ultimately determine the course of his entire life. Although being in Eo is a great honor, it is still comparatively insignificant to the issue.

This isn't justification for my actions. No. It's crude and low. I know this. The thing is, I'm never known for being outwardly nice. And whatever there is of my reputation usually crumbles in time anyway.

Really, I've reached a dead end. Spent an entire month trying to change a person who is himself asking for help, but ultimately refuses to take any initiative ("defeatist", remember?). And this is really all I can do. I've planned to show this blog entry to him, and I've already asked him to set the time for a long talk.

I'm sure many of you feel strongly against this, but I've made my decision. I've known him for 5 years, and I'm not going to give up. I'm already a failure myself for not being able to do any better.

Classical composers I think do reserve some sort of special status. I mean everything was diffrent, like we are talking about music from the past 40 years compared to songs that have stood the test of time for centurys. Really though, classical composition is just about as complicated as it gets, to be able to show certain emotions while making some of the most complex melodies is just unreal to me. SO id say if you cant agree with that, you can atleast say that classical music has stood the test of time.

Well obviously stood the test of time.  There's no doubting that.

Complicated?  See I don't see that as necessarily a positive thing in music.  You can express emotion through music without having to be complicated.  Maybe the complexities are interesting to people who really want to study music, but to me it makes no odds.  So if a composition is extremely complex then I really don't care if I don't like it!  I guess I'll never appreciate classical music in the way that you do, as the complexities of it all just don't interest me. 

I do like the odd piece of classical music, but generally I find it a little dull.  Not sure why, I guess I never really find the melodies to appeal to my taste I guess.  Purely personal stuff of course.  Understand that I'm not saying it's rubbish or anything like that!

Of course, the trouble with modern music is that anybody can do it these days.  There is so much music out there that people with the skills and talents of Beethoven may never make it past obscurity!

see, while i love classical music, the technicality behind music is never something that appeals to me either. I think sometimes the whole of classical music gets put in a bad light when people suggest that this is the reason it is great, and is the reason why it should be apreciated.
That in turn has also spawned a sort of reverse snobbery, in which people are unwilling to explore classical music because it is seen as lording over any other styles. "High brow" is a term thats been thrown at me a few times when people have heard me listening to anything classical, which personally I've always seen as a very ignorant way of turning ones nose up at something without giving it a chance.

Now, I don't like all classical music, in fact theres a whole lot that I dont like or that bores me too, I don't expect everyone to like it. But as with poular music, its such a vast field with many genres and sub-genres.
I tend to be a fan of late renaissance and baroque, and even then its only the more moving or beautiful stuff. I also like some early 20th century piano music, and modern ambient / minimalist stuff.
I'm largely not a fan of classical era or romantic era stuff, however this tends to get more play than anything else.

While I felt the same reaction as pug to the initial post, I think its impossible to boo classical music as a whole because it is such a wide term.
I also dont like that classical music is only seen as historic music and that only the 'great composers' are relevant, as personally i feel modern classical music has just as much relevance, albeit less accessible.
Equally I'd also say that popular musics life certainly spans back longer than 40 years! And that although classical music has of course influenced a lot of popular music, folk music has been just as much a basis for it.

And sharing it with the rest of the world? Directly? Too late to ask him if he's OK with that, no?


If only the rest of said community shared your belief that you're in any position to advise/criticise/denounce members of your own team so publically in so ironic a fashion. Long talk: yes; going "and look, I've pasted a history of everything to a group of complete strangers - they don't agree with me, but boy do you feel stupid, right?", no.
