Oh, and ChevyRay. Dude, you're freaking awesome man. I can't believe you've made so much progress so quick.
The screenshots are very inspiring. So you won't mind when suddenly a bunch of isometric platforming projects are
announced here on the boards? ;D Seriously man, I'm sorely tempted to drop what I'm doing and make an outright
clone of this stuff. If only to play it before you release an official demo :).

ahhh, and wouldn't it be simply amazing if even 1 of these projects ever became a completed work?
(ducks to avoid dangerous thrown objects - wondering if his backwards sense of encouragement came across correctly)

Keep your fingers crossed.
arms, legs, and toes, too :)
it'll be sweet to rock the goodness you end up creating, regardless of when it actually comes to completion. whether soon or far in the future. for surely there'll be a time when you get to dedicate a significant portion of your life to dev. any amount of waiting for me (us) will only make it that much sweeter :D and your skills that much doper.
...because life will start to suck again,...
and don't take that sucky life for granted. it's all juicy inspiration for creative output ;)

In response to your zelda stuff, Id say that they have done well to make each game original in its own respect. Majoras mask didnt focus on a trapt princess that you have to save, and it didnt even mention a master sword. Twilight Princess didnt focus really on the time old, grab master sword save princess thing either. I think if you look into each zelda game youll find that they all have something new and orginal added to the story line that takes the focus off of that. Which is probly why we are still playing zelda today.

now, if they'd just go back to the drawing board and start adding something new and original to the gameplay ;)
and, no, tiny updates to tools does not count...
(of course, i love the loz games. please don't flame me! i just want them to become fresh again.)
aaaaaaaaand back on topic
how's progress on this project coming, mista ray?

Since this blog, I have set up a nice and clean dialogue engine, in which I can call a text box with any amount of dialogue. It fades in and out and looks all pretty. I also set up a YES/NO system to go along with it, so you can respond either to NPCs or shop owners or whatever.
Also, I set up the room transition engine. There is a quick fade-in and fade-out between rooms, and global variables that keep track of the characters position, and a room transition object that keeps specific details of where each exit in a room should take you to (room, position, and direction to face).
On the graphics side, I have pixelled more terrain. I have the grass theme and the rock theme already finished as you've seen, and since then I've finished the swamp tiles. Also, I pixelled some water tiles for the rivers, lakes, and swamps that may occur. They look really good, in my opinion, and I will post them with my next blog :)
Oh, I forgot to mention, I also pixelled 6 enemies, ranging from mushroom and plant-based ones to completely original creatures. I may show tidbits of them as well if I feel you all deserve it ;) mwaha
I think that's all... unless you also count the house, design of the first room in the game, and a complete rough draft of the world map.
Sleep? Who needs sleep.
