It's complete! It's finally complete! Yowza! *dances*
...well, almost. The Eo-exclusive full-beta version was released only a few minutes ago. It features the entire game from start to finish, except for the opening and ending scenes (including the ending credits). In other words, it's essentially complete, save for a few decorations and further polish. Speaking of polish, there are still about a dozen minor problems in this version, but since we'll have to take feedback from Eo members in consideration anyway, we decided to release the game as it is. Not perfect yet, but it should provide some great fun and excitement (or some keyboard thrashing, depending on your skill level). We've spent hours upon hours tweaking the the difficulty of the game in an attempt to follow the classic difficulty curve as precisely as possible, but they definitely aren't enough.
We are not going to release a beta version outside of Eo, due to the nature of the game. The testing period should last around 2 weeks. After that, the final version will be everywhere for download. The timing couldn't be better. Because of the fact that our "midterm season" starts next week, yesterday was our deadline for the full beta. We met the deadline at exactly midnight. Yaow!
Since we also plan to sell this game locally, we're going to make a Thai version of the game. The "Thai CD Edition" will be commercialware, and we're looking into the copyright registration process for that. Unfortunately, it seems that copyright infringement is on the climb in the past recent years (as if it isn't already bad enough), so we have to take exceptional care in these legal issues. It's not a long game, so it'll be pretty cheap (dirt cheap by US standards), but we're mostly trying to cover our expenses and spread the word about us, so low profit isn't a problem. Besides, we can use the experience in selling commercialware anyway. XD
It's been a long, but successful journey. Regardless of how well the masses respond to this game, we're proud of our work, which we perceive to be ridiculously entertaining (but the bias is strong within us :P). At times, it was treacherous, with our programmer suffocating himself through overwork. I've had to work with some of the most "psychologically taxing" "resources". While the sound guy had to redo a certain problematic sound effect several times, and discover that simplicity is the answer. At one point, the project was on the verge of failing, due to some of my own game design flaws. I had to come up with a drastic new approach for the game that still captures the original vision. Each time we successfully incorporate a new game mechanic and see it work beautifully in action, it was a moment of euphoria. And finally, when everything came together in one single experience, we were literally cheering (and it drew some confused stares and head-scratching from other people).
However, although the journey is undeniably a success, the fate of the game itself is uncertain. Now, will that be a success?
Of course, since we did much of our work on college grounds, we've invited a few friends who happen to be around to try out the game. One of our contributors was hugely impressed (he did not see the game until this week), which is a good sign.
Right now, all we can do is hope... no wait. We have to concentrate on our midterms. Ack. I can't wait to go professional, where I'll be able to dedicate all my time on game development. Oh well, one step at a time. XD

I'm sorry, but you'll have to wait about two weeks. This version is for Eo members only.

Oh, usually when people say 'exclusive beta', they mean only down, loadable from that site, not only to members.
Why would people care if you finished a project that we know nothing about, never heard of the person that created it and can't download it anyway?

Some people obviouslly dont have much time in their lives. Get a job or something, and if you like girls get a girlfriend. Maybe that would prevent people with obviouslly no time from wasting ours.
Edit if you want :D
Interesting game nevertheless.
