Eye Injury BBaller // 21:48
Our basketball team made it to the final game in a league we played in.... and the final game was this past wednesday.  Coming in, we knew it was gonna be a physical game, but even with this knowledge we thought we were capable of beating our opponent.  I mean, we were riding a hot streak, we had won four in a row, although one was by forfeit, and the most recent was a playoff match-up against the best team in the league, which was undefeated until we knocked them out of the playoffs to make it to the final game.  Anyway, on to the game.  We started out strong, hitting a number of shots, and jumping out to a double digit lead.  At this point, you could tell we were getting tired.  At the end of the first half, probably in the last five minutes, they had a little run where they caught up to us and possibly took the lead, I can't recall exactly.  I had been on the bench resting, and I came in with a little bit of time left.

That turned out to be a bad decision, as I ended up getting injured in the eye.  This one guy on the other team came down court protecting the ball with both hands and went up for the layup.  Unfortunately for me, I happened to be right in front of him, and as he swung his arms around, one of his elbows caught me straight in the eye... successfully drilling my eye back into my eye socket.  So I fall to the ground, because it's hurting like no other.  I'm laying there for like two minutes... before I finally get up.  I could tell by people's reactions that it wasn't something I could just shrug off.  As I walk up the bleachers I realize the guy is shooting his free throws... so they called me with the foul even though he deliberately swung his elbows at my face.... yeah that's cool, thanks ref.

So I walk outside the building with an ice pack on my eye... realizing by this point that there was no way I could make it back into the game, no matter how much I wanted to.  I had been a defensive stopper and more of a fast break scored for my team, and I knew they could've used my intensity, so I was well... extremely bummed that I couldn't play.  We ended up losing the game by about ten points, unfortunately.  Take a look at the eye below hehe, it only opens half way right now.  I had it looked at... and for 95 bucks, they told me everything was okay.  Better to check, though.

Holysmokers, what a shiner!

Good that there wasn't any bad damage, but sucks that you guys had to lose the game.

I had to fork over $120 to get my eye checked and I had to go through three tests just to find out I had red eye.

Luckily my eye was pretty much back to normal by Christmas, so that was a gift in itself you can say.

well, one thing is for sure:  as far as looks go, your right side is definitely your good side.  :D

One of my cats lost an eye.  Well, it's not exactly lost... the surgeon knows exactly where it is.

Anyway, I hope yours is OK.  Is there much more important than our eyes?  I don't think so.
